Introduced in the Shrouded Sky (1.17.0) update, the Hurricane is both a formidable challenge and a goldmine for Raiders. As the storm batters the Rust Belt, it unearths the legendary First Wave Caches, containing some of the rarest items in the game.
1. What is the Hurricane Event?
Hurricanes occur on a rotating hourly cycle across the four outdoor maps:
- Dam Battlegrounds
- Blue Gate
- Buried City
- The Spaceport
When a Hurricane is active, you will hear a distinct digital security beeping that pierces through the howling wind.
2. Survival Challenges & Mechanics
Navigating a Hurricane requires a shift in your usual tactics:
- Wind Effects: Running against the wind severely drains stamina and slows you down, while running with the wind grants a significant speed boost. Jumping is also influenced by wind direction.
- Debris Hazards: Swirling metal scraps will batter your shields, degrading their protection quickly.
- High ARC Threat: Hurricanes attract increased ARC presence. Combined with near-zero visibility, you are often ambushed before you even see the threat.
3. First Wave (Hurricane) Secret Caches
The primary objective during a Hurricane is locating the First Wave Caches. These are upgraded versions of standard Raider Caches that only spawn during the storm.
- How to Identify: They are larger than regular crates, emit a faint blue glow, and produce a rhythmic "digital ticking" sound.
- Drop Rates: Blueprints are not guaranteed (approx. 60% drop rate), but a successful run can yield between 1 to 7 blueprints.

5. Survival & Extraction Strategy
To survive and extract with your loot, follow these tips:
- Adrenaline Shots: Essential. Use them to manage heavy stamina drain when fighting the wind or escaping ARC units.
